London, UK. 8th July 2016. Protesters gathered outside the Embassy of South Korea calling for a ban on practices associated with dog meat eating Boknal festival. Held over three days during the hottest part of the year, the festival involves eating dog meat which is traditionally believed to increase overall health and fitness as well as to cool the blood. Boknal supports unregulated slaughter industry where animal cruelty is driven by the traditional belief that increased adrenaline levels improve the taste and potency of the meat. It is estimated that 2,5 mln dogs and thousands of cats are slaughtered and eaten each year in South Korea.
